Hello folks and a happy Snowy Monday! All weekend long - starting on Friday the pending snow fall was on everyone’s minds. Family, friends, co-workers - we all crinkled our noses, squinted our eyes and staring up at the grey sky - made our best weather prediction. The weather - it is always laughed at as the sorta boring topic, but it fascinates me that it actually can become a sort of an obsession in a lot of conversations quickly! People are staring up, checking their phones, changing their plans…..we are all doing our best weatherman impressions —— just waiting for the first glimpse at Juno!
This storm is said to be record breaking for the NorthEast - my brother is watching for up to 1 foot in New York while Danny’s family in New England could see up to 2 feet! As of Friday we thought 3-6 inches were possible as early as Saturday afternoon for us in Northern VA…..but as the weekend wore on it was pretty clear we would only see our big snow fall Sunday evening.
So like everyone else we did the store thing, we talked and talked schedules and what ifs - one of us even made a snow to do list (ya know - just in case there was a snow day and we needed to know what to get done :) )! And while Danny continued to say - its not going to happen, I was a big believer. I had packed up EVERYTHING I could need at work, made my lunch for Monday - acted like but of course there will be no snow - secretly hoping and praying that we would get it! 6:10AM I lept out of bed and ran to the window to find….R*A*I*N. ***SIGH*** and maybe a few other words…..no snow and instead I will be just cold AND wet. PHUEY!
Needless to say we are south enough that nothing has really hit until tonight….which it is coming down and is pretty….but I am not counting on much. O well it was fun to hope! And in the meantime I can live through my brother and his pup!!

Which that is one glorious part of no snow - our pup is much happier to not be out amoungst the white stuff. While my brother Grant and his girlfriend Kelly just adopted their 4-legged baby THIS WEEK: talk about a true test of pawrenthood - out in this snow with a pup! But as you can see they are loving on him already and enjoying their adventures. It has been so much fun for Danny and I to watch this new doggie change their worlds- my brother texts with questions and advice, Skypes with us and pup, or looks to commiserate about at what an afternoon at Petco can cost you! We are loving it and so glad to welcome “Rico” to the family!

So what else do we have to show for this weekend - since so far the snow is limited….. Friday night I came home and CRASHED. Like exchanged my jeans for sweat pants, plugged in my electrical blanket and that was all she wrote! Danny came in from hockey practice and a visit with his parents to find his wife literally drooling asleep on the couch - cute. My week had full and accomplished and this girl was beat! I did wake up and hang with him for a bit and then in my strange outfit choice visited with my mom and her JP business partner who was in town for a few meetings from Atlanta. I even got myself upright enough to help them with some social media needs. But it was not long before a hot shower and comfy bed with a sweet shiba called me home for good!

Saturday I was supposed to give blood - but woke up feeling off and with a really scratchy throat. So I recehduled my appointment from my phone (iPhone, I love you) and caught a few more ZZZZs. Finally at 9AM I joined the land of the living - with the help of Starbucks and advil - and joined my mother in law for a mani - pedi. We had plans for a fancy dinner to celebrate my Father in Law’s birthday Saturday night - and so us girls started the merriment at the spa.

Pat and I are both talkers…. big time! And often the constant flow of noise and ideas are a little much for the men in our lives - so it is pretty normal for us to start the gabbing before the planned event. It assures that we can cover it all and not leave their heads spinning.
After my beauty time I headed out to do a few errands before home, followed by a big clean up fest for our basement area and showering up to head back down to dinner. Danny was pretty quiet most of Saturday. His IVs are still running and he feels better - but not 100% by any means, in fact not as good as he would have hoped. So we are putting extra emphasis on the little things we can do to help. For instance more purposeful rest, a strong air purifier, keep everything extra clean…..and hoping he keeps getting better. We will see….for now we are all just trying to be patient.
Dinner was just perfection - Italian food, Italian Wine, Italian men singing happy birthday…..it was perfect! I am mad that we did not do a good job of pictures when we all were looking so sharp - but at least we got one of the birthday boy!

Saturday night Danny and I got home, sacked out for a few DVR shows and were off to bed pretty early. Again that purposeful rest is so greatly needed for Dan right now -and truthfully for me too! I am doing my darnedest to get the most out of my days, which pretty much translates to getting the most out of my sleep.
This was perfect as I woke up bright and early on Sunday. Got a lot done, had a blog reading fest and payer time complete with Starbucks and my electric blanket, caught mass as a couple and pontificated about the snow. It was not a glamorous day - but a pretty good one, even without the snow :( .
This week we have a variety of things going - but most important Dan goest back to check in with Baltimore and we hope he will be IV free and start to feel stronger and stronger with each day. In the meant time I hope to keep life rolling on and catching up even more here on the blog - so stay tuned! And of course cheers to a fresh week!
