It’s here! It’s here! Thanksgiving is just around the corner…but with family arriving, snow falling, food cooking and drinks flowing already - it feels like we have made it!

Another Thanksgiving, how quickly a year has gone by - some days it was a slow progression, but when you look at the year as whole, I am shocked at how fast it went and how truly different life looks. In these moments I always find myself directly at the crossroads of gratitude, awe, wonder and yet surprise at where we thought we may be versus where we are - life is an oddly wonderful phenomena - isn’t it?

This Thanksgiving I have many things I am grateful for….so very, very many I feel like a very lucky soul. From being at a point last year of total frustration, fear, uncertainty - to finding myself at a true fresh start with so much excitement, potential, and moments to celebrate….I have to really pinch myself and thank God he had a plan.

That brings me to today - on my blog, on a healthy Wednesday - feeling like I am standing right at the point of accomplishment of many adventures and hopes for so much more….health being near the very top of that list. And as we already noted this week life is a series of circumstance and choices…..with the latter being where to focus - I am choosing health. Now Thanksgiving a holiday known for its food is an odd one to think about health - but in some ways it is the perfect one. It is a busy holiday, but not too busy, it is a holiday surrounded by a chill in the air, but not too cold, and it is a time of year surrounded by plans but not overloaded. This leaves the perfect amount of time for getting in that long run, detoxing with at least a big glass of water and lemon while you enjoy your gravy, and its a time to remember how good your healthy choices make you feel so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle….and not just barely survive it.

This week has been so full and had a lot of reality checks….but it has only continued to reaffirm how much I have enjoyed my running and how much more I crave the balance you can feel from just eating a little less or letting round 3 of the food go on without you. So today I have nothing new to report, only to say I am so excited to have a few days off! I look forward to filling them with healthy activities that include my runs and walks….but also my family visits, snuggles with Danny or playing with my pup. Yes I have my 5K to consider and of course I know I should not just live on Starbucks but make sure to throw in a raw veggie or greek yogurt……but the healing from just being grateful and soaking in these moments are what being alive is really about…..I hope that you can enjoy this part of being healthy too!
